Halloween Facts!
Did you know that Halloween dates back more than 2,000 years! It's even older than the idea of Christianity. Originally it was called "Samhain" (summer's end), and was a pre-Christian Celtic event. The event was normally held around the first of Nov.
The idea of trick or treating, has been around since the medieval times! In those times children and young adults would dress up and go around looking to trade songs, poems, or "tricks" for food and money.
Harry Houdini died in 1926 on Halloween! The performer died after suffering from a ruptured appendix. Some beleive that he was poisoned by "angry spiritualists".
During Wolrd War II, trick or treating almost stopped because of the rationing the entire country was having to do.
