Accessability to Mental Health Services

The previous articles have shown all the ways that one's mental health can be negativly impacted by how they are treated by society. Unfortuantly that isn't where the problems with the mental health of people with disabilities end due to social issues. In order to improve one's mental health, one of the things they need to is reach out to professionals who know how to best treat these issues. However, due to a number of social issues getting the medical help the need to keep their mental health in check is nuch harder than it is for normally abled individuals.

One of the biggest factors that work as a barrier between individuals with a disability and the mental health attention they need is that people with a disability live in poverty at over twice the rate of their non-disabled peers. Which not only prevents them from the care they need, but can also directly contribute to their mental health issues. These issues have only been made worse by the effects of covid and not only has it made a large persentage of disabled individuals loose what jobs they had, but their status also makes it harder for them to aquire mental help as the majority of ways they can recieve care are harder to come by due to restrictions preventing most face to face metings, and social gatherings that would have been benifital to their well being.
