Food Definition

Food is any substance consumed by an organism for nutritional support. Food is usually of plant, animal, or fungal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals.

Healthy Eating Guide

If you diet includes a wide variety of foods in the right proportion, and does not exclude any food groups, then you are following a healthy balanced diet.

You daily diet should include the following food groups:

Food Amount
Grains 3-8 bowls
Meat, Fish, Egg and Alternatives 5-8 taels
Vegetables At least 3 servings
Fruits At least 2 servings
Milk and Alternatives 1-2 glasses
Fat/ Oil, Salt and Sugar Eat the least
Fluid 6-8 glasses
